In the first part of our teaching, we mentioned that everything that God created was intended for His glory, or to make Him known. Through creation, God’s invisible qualities– His eternal power and divine nature can clearly be seen–Romans 1:19, 20.

And man who was created in the image of God, was to display His character and nature. Man was to showcase God’s glory for Him to be glorified. But sin came in, and man lost God’s glorious standard to experience His glory in His life, and the ability to show forth His virtues and excellencies.

The good news is, God was not taken by surprise. God had a plan and purpose hidden in Him before the foundation of this world. A plan to fulfill His own good pleasure.

So, in accordance with His purpose as revealed by the Spirit in the Book of Ephesians, God loved us and chose us in Christ. He decided in advance to adopt us into His own family by bringing us to Himself through Christ.

God is so rich in kindness and grace that He purchased our freedom with the blood of His Son, remitted our sins and lavished on us the riches of His grace along with wisdom and understanding. All these were for the commendation of His grace.

But we need to know the main purpose for this graciousness– the act of His glorious grace towards us. Ephesians 1:12 reveals that God’s purpose was for us live to for the praise of His glory.

The  Amplified Bible says, “So that we who first hoped in Christ. . . have been destined and appointed TO LIVE FOR THE PRAISE OF HIS GLORY.

The ability to live for the glory of God was lost in Adam. Now in Christ, the redeemed can live for the glory of God. And for the Father to be glorified, honoured and praised .

We are, therefore, delivered from the kingdom of darkness into His marvellous light to show others the goodness of God– His glory.

1 Peter 2:9( NLT) says, “But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, YOU CAN SHOW OTHERS THE GOODNESS OF GOD, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.”

According to Exodus 33:18,19 and Exodus 34:6,7, the goodness or the virtues of God reveal His glory.

The Amplified Bible puts1 Peter 2:9 this way: But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a consecrated nation, a [special] people for God’s own possession, so that you may set forth the excellencies [the wonderful deeds and display the virtues and perfections] of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.

We are to set forth God’s wonderful deeds and display His virtues and perfections in Christ for the Father to be glorified, and to silence the enemies of God who would speak against Him because of our evil deeds.

Instead, the world would glorify Him when they observe our good deeds– Matthew 5:16; 1 Peter 2:12.

You’re created in Christ for God’s glory. Know and understand this for you to live for His glory in your thoughts, deeds and words.
