Scriptural Reading: Psalm 139:13-17

I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvellous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well. Psalm 139:14

You have just stepped into a brand New Year. The year 2020 is our year of EXCELLENCE. After decades of anticipation by individuals and diverse groups, the long awaited 2020 is finally here.

God has opened a new page and a new chapter in your life. This is a new beginning and an opportunity to experience God’s grace in an unprecedented way. As you begin the journey in this landmark year, I want you to focus on an excellent God who has created you in His image and equipped you to excel in all things.

The word Excellence connotes “distinction,” ‘superior performance’ or ‘exceptional quality.’ Everything about God is excellent. Psalm 36:7 says, “How excellent is thy lovingkindness, O God! Therefore, the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings.” Psalm 150:2 says, “Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness.” When we praise our God, we must focus on His magnificence and His greatness which surpasses all.

God created us in His image and after His likeness. That means we share in His divine nature of excellence. Psalm 139 says we are fearfully and wonderfully made. God intricately designed and formed each of us in our mother’s womb. Each of us is a unique replica of His glory. Everything we do, say and pursue this year must reflect God’s excellent greatness and the riches of His glory. It is our year of Excellence.

Prayer: Lord, help me manifest Your excellence and glory in everything I do this year.

For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother`s womb.

I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well.

My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.

Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, The days fashioned for me, When as yet there were none of them.

How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them!
